Like all animals, canines are complex beings. Staying well-informed on canine behaviours is key to providing a safe sheltering experience for dogs at HSLM, and the humans who interact with them.
HSLM staff and volunteers have been participating in canine training sessions, conducted by members of our staff team who are currently studying in the Canadian Professional Dog Training program through Georgian College. We were grateful to receive funding through the Canada-Ontario job grant to provide the opportunity for four team members to participate in the 10-month course. Through such shared learning opportunities we continue to improve our level of care for animals, and ensure high standards of training and education for staff and volunteers.
