Tessa’s Life Saving Surgery

Meet Tessa, a four year old feline who underwent life saving surgery.

When Tessa was surrendered to HSLM, it was brought to our attention that a couple years ago, Tessa underwent surgery from a previous injury that never quite healed, causing the wound, for the past two years, to repeatedly abscess. The vet recommended surgical correction, meaning Tessa would have to undergo another surgery to remove any debris within the wound.

After numerous attempts to heal Tessa’s neck, without any success, our team ultimately decided that the best course of action for Tessa was to proceed with a risky exploratory surgery. This potentially fatal surgery would allow us to remove nodules of scar tissue in Tessa’s neck. If successful, this surgery would eliminate any affected tissue, causing her old wound to heal properly.

We are so proud to say that Tessa’s surgery was a great success and that Tessa is now recovering in her forever home. Of course, major life saving surgeries like this would not be possible without our incredible support base. A heartfelt thank you to our PAW monthly donors for your ongoing support — join them today and make a lasting impact!
