As the days get warmer, kitten season arrives at Humane Society London & Middlesex (HSLM), and with it, an overwhelming number of tiny, vulnerable kittens needing our care. This “kitten season” happens every year when unspayed outdoor cats give birth, flooding shelters with litters of newborns. Some arrive healthy, but many of these kittens arrive at HSLM too young to survive on their own, some struggling with malnutrition, parasites, respiratory infections, or injuries. Others require bottle feeding, meaning extra hands, extra time, and extra resources.

With every kitten that comes through our doors, our need for supplies, medical care, and foster homes skyrockets. Staff and volunteers work tirelessly to care for each kitten, but the reality is that this seasonal surge stretches our resources thin. Food, medical supplies, and space become limited, making it more challenging to provide the level of care every kitten deserves.
This “kitten season” is a reminder of why spaying and neutering are so important. Preventing unwanted litters is the most effective way to reduce the number of kittens ending up in shelters each year.
While our team works tirelessly to care for these little ones, we can’t do it alone.
That’s why we’re launching our Spring Kitten Drive to ensure we have the funds needed to provide these kittens with the love, food, and medical care they deserve.
Every kitten that comes to HSLM deserves a happy, healthy future. With your support, we can continue to be there for them—this kitten season and beyond.
