Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator Employment Opportunity

About HSLM:

HSLM is a charitable organization whose mission is to lead London and Middlesex in building a humane and compassionate community for all animals. We improve the lives of animals in our community by providing shelter and appropriate new families.

What we are looking for:

How would you like to spend your mornings creating social media content and writing stories about the paws and purrs of HSLM? After lunch, you hit the town to share the latest buzz with our community of pet lovers, animal welfare friendly businesses and soon-to-be new partners.

We’re searching for an enthusiastic and outgoing do-er who gets excited about the idea of spending their workdays sharing all things HSLM with the community and building strong connections. The idea of coordinating events to support HSLM excites you, and you have the ability to oversee logistics related to our volunteer program.

As both a people and paws person, you understand that connections come in many forms and you have the skills to make those meaningful connections happen. You can create great digital and print communications including website design and can deliver an impactful message in person both in the shelter environment and in public settings.

Hours of work:

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours weekly, however at times work may be up to 44 hours weekly. Must be comfortable with a flexible schedule as attending engagements and events during the evening and on weekends will be required.

What your workdays look like:

  • Create social media content and engage with social community members.
  • Write stories about our organization, including our animals, mission, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Research current industry and social trends, always thinking about new and unique ways to target customers, build strong brand awareness and grow our relationships with our amazing community.
  • Facilitate engagement initiatives such as the HSLM Pet Calendar.
  • Update in-house communications (such as signage) and external communications (like our website, forms, brochures and sponsorship packages) to ensure they’re up to date with current messaging.
  • Champion the HSLM brand and culture amongst teammates and in the community.
  • Compose content for emails, newsletters and media releases.
  • Frequent in-person visits with established community partners, and cultivate new partnerships through your awesome social skills (you are comfortable walking into to a business and introducing yourself and HSLM).
  • Coordinate community events in support of HSLM, with the desire to make events remarkable experiences.
  • Coordinate volunteer program logistics, including volunteer recruitment and orientation.

What you will bring to the team:

At HSLM, we appreciate that experience comes in many forms. If your experience is similar to what we are looking for, please consider applying.

  • Degree/Diploma in marketing, communications, a related field or relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with ability to speak and present in public settings.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including a comfort interacting with diverse individuals.
  • Comfort working with MS Office Suite, Facebook, Instagram, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite (asset) and the ability to learn new softwares.
  • Knowledge and experience of the charitable and not-for-profit sector will be helpful.
