Volunteering is Empathy in Action

Humane Society London and Middlesex are incredibly grateful for all of our volunteers. We recognize National Volunteer Week, to celebrate their dedication and love towards our organization! Each of our 250+ volunteers brings a unique and special character to our mission of leading London & Middlesex in building a humane and compassionate community for all animals.

The theme for 2022 Volunteer Week is “Volunteering is Empathy in Action”, affirming the strong connection between volunteerism and empathy. This is truly fitting to describe the 250+ HSLM volunteers who demonstrate their compassion, dedication and passion for the shelter animals every single day. Over the past couple years, we had to navigate through some unusual and uncertain situations. Without being able to engage and develop relationships with our community, our volunteer base has not wavered. In fact it has been growing.  Our volunteers have been consistently willing to assist with the needs of the animals and day-to-day operations. The Humane Society London and Middlesex is extremely grateful for all of the support that comes our way everyday.

Volunteering at HSLM comes in many forms; from socializing cats & small animals, dog walking, cleaning/maintenance, as well as contributing their time outside of the shelter by sewing pet gift items, shipping online orders, and assisting in the limited events we were able to run in the past year. Each volunteer and their role is instrumental to the success of our organization!

We at HSLM are incredibly proud to be a part of such an empathic community that shares our passion for animal welfare and demonstrates their commitment by donating their time to improve the lives of the shelter pets.
