Since she was eight years old, Linda has had a deep love and appreciation for animals. While that passion began in childhood, her connection to the Humane Society of London & Middlesex came much later, and through a memorable experience she still recalls today.
At the time, Linda was living on a farm with several beagles housed in kennels. Feeling sorry for them, she decided to let them out for some freedom, not realizing they would quickly seize the opportunity to explore beyond the property. A few days later, she received a call from the shelter. A nearby farmer had found the dogs and contacted the Humane Society for help.
“That’s when I started donating, when my dog was found by the London Humane Society”, Linda shares as she reflects on her first encounter with the shelter.
Until that moment, Linda hadn’t realized the organization’s work extended beyond the city of London. As she learned more about the shelter’s role in rescuing surrendered animals and providing them with the care and treatment they needed, she found herself inspired to help.
That single experience sparked a lifelong commitment to giving.
Over the years, every time Linda received a raise at work, she increased her monthly donation. Her support became woven into her life, as Linda had become not only a donor, but a passionate advocate for animal welfare and the shelter’s mission.
“The community benefits from the shelter, because you’re the safety net for animals, to make sure they get treated properly.”
For Linda, the shelter represents something every community needs: a place where animals can receive care, compassion, and a second chance when their families can no longer provide for them.
When asked why monthly giving is so important to her, she doesn’t hesitate.
“Because I can help a dog sooner, sooner than later. Make your donations now, don’t wait. People wait too long and the animals need it now.”
After more than 20 years of faithful support, Linda’s generosity has contributed thousands to the shelter. Her story is a powerful reminder that meaningful impact doesn’t always happen all at once. Sometimes, it begins with a small monthly gift, a compassionate heart, and a commitment that grows over time, providing hundreds of second chances along the way.
