Bark & Splash

HSLM is excited to welcome you back for our 3rd annual Bark & Splash event on Sunday, September 13th 2020 at London’s East Park!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an event waiver?

Yes, every dog owner will be required to sign a waiver at the event registration. This waiver will require all attendees to confirm that they have not traveled outside of Ontario or have had contact with anyone diagnosed or showing symptoms of COVID-19 within the last 14 days.

How many people can accompany each dog into the wave pool area?

There is a limit of 2 individuals to accompany each dog in the wave pool area due to COVID-19 protocols. We encourage all attendees to wear a face mask and practice physical distancing recommendations.

Can I swim in the wave pool with my dog?

Attendees are not permitted to enter the wave pool with their dog. Humane Society London & Middlesex staff and volunteers need to have clear sight of all dogs to ensure their safety. If people are in the wave pool, their sight of the dogs would be obstructed.

Can I bring my dogs water toys to the event?

Attendees will not be allowed to bring their own dog toys into the wave pool area (we will be supplying tennis balls for the dogs)

Is this an off-leash event?

Dogs are permitted to be off-leash within the wave pool area once the announcement has been made to do so. Once the swim time has ended, another announcement will be made asking owners to put their dogs back on leashes to exit the wave pool area.

Can my dog wear their prong or choke collar at the event?

Dogs are not allowed to wear prong or choke collars in the wave pool area. These must be removed before your dog enters the water or is taken off leash.

Can my dog and I explore other areas of East Park other than the wave pool area?

Bark & Splash is contained to the wave pool area of East Park; dogs are not permitted in other areas.

What if my dog does not get along with other dogs or people at the event?

If a dog is showing unfriendly behaviour towards people or other dogs, Humane Society London & Middlesex staff will ask you to remove your dog from the wave pool area.

What if my dog gets injured at the event?

HSLM staff and volunteers will be monitoring the event area to ensure the safety of all dogs and humans. Canine first aid services will also be on-site.

Is the chlorine harmful for my dog to drink?

East Park will be lowering the chlorine content of the wave pool water to a safe level, in case dogs drink it. Fresh water stations will also be available for dogs within the event area.

Is there a rain date?

As September 13th is the last day East Park will be open for the season, the event will continue rain or shine; there is not a rain date.

If I purchase multiple swim time tickets, can we stay in the wave pool area?

Attendees who purchase more than one swim time ticket are asked to clear the wave pool area in between so that the staff and volunteers have time to prepare the area for the following group.
